Redwood Guardian

Trail Thoughts and Musings

The beginning of the trail is marked by a large redwood tree. These trees were the reason that Big Basin State Park was established. Although this tree is not named, and is not remarkable in its size, the hollow in its trunk is large enough for an adult to stand upright inside. It should be noted that since the storms of 1998, a large tree has fallen in front of this one making the inside hollow difficult to reach now.
