Fantastic vistas are now prevalent as the trail continues along the ridge. Spread below is the canyon formed by Waddell Creek. Unlike its brethren, it has formed a direct route through the mountains, flowing into the Pacific Ocean. Other streams start high up in the hills, but Waddell Creek provides the only drainage for most of Big Basin. It is fed by Opal Creek and Sempervirens Creek among others.
