Having reached the top, it is possible to obtain a 360 degree view of Big Basin by walking around the edges. Several ecological zones can be seen from this vantage point. Highest is the Knobcone Pine forest that surrounds you. Next can be found the Tan Oak and Madrone zone that occupies the mid level of the mountain. Finally, the vast redwood forest occupies the floor of Big Basin.
