The trail begins its descent from the highway by following parallel to a steep escarpment. Soon the terrain mellows out to merely steep. The trail is very well laid out and one's sense of isolation increases with every step taken. This is a refreshing change from the first part of the hike. Here a wooden bridge has been placed to allow for an easy crossing over a steep ravine.
