Moss Covered Redwoods

Trail Thoughts and Musings

The trail continues its gradual descent to Opal Creek. Here it rounds a bend and passes several large redwood trees that fell many years ago. The wood of the redwood is naturally resistant to both insects and decay. This gives the moss and lichens, that are so prevalent in this wet climate, ample time to paint these fallen giants a vivid emerald green.
