First Sight of El Niņo Damage

Trail Thoughts and Musings

After a short walk along Opal Creek, the first of many examples can be seen of the damage wrought by El Niņo in 1998. An alternate route has be created to skirt this fallen giant. Over 300 trees were felled by the onslaught of storms that hit this area, permanently altering the landscape. After climbing the steps, a scramble over a smaller fallen tree is still required.
