Trail Thoughts and Musings

The trail passes by two trees growing from a common base. This is a common characteristic of redwood trees. Since the most common method of propagation is from a shared root system of a "mother" tree, more than one individual tree can share a common trunk. When a circle of redwoods grow around one tree, a "fairie ring" of redwoods is produced.
