The trail continues to ascend at an ever increasing rate. Do not despair because the highest point will soon be reached and the hike will then become an easy downhill stroll until you again reach Bennett Creek trail. This is an old wagon road named by teamsters because its sharp bend around the steep ridgeline reminded them of "sailing 'round the horn" on their journey to California.
