New Growth from Logged Trees

After passing unobstructed views of the river, the trail ducks into a more forested area. This is an example of nature recovering from the logging of old growth redwoods around the turn of the century. The stumps of the giant first growth redwoods are surrounded by tall second growth trees. In time these new trees will become as large and impressive as progenitors.
