General Grant Tree

Trail Thoughts and Musings

Named for the leader of the Union forces during the Civil War, the General Grant Tree is the world's third-largest living thing. The Grant Tree is as tall as a 27-story building. It weights more than 700 large cars. It contains enough wood to construct more than 40 average-sized, 5-room houses. A relatively young tree for a giant sequoia, the Grant Tree has lived for nearly twenty centuries. It is known as "The Nation's Christmas Tree."
