From this part of the trail, an awe inspiring view of Mt. Shasta can be seen. It is now unobstructed by the past mature forest and so dominates the landscape. Even in late summer, snow still clings to its slopes. Like most stratovolcanoes, it dwarfs the other mountains around it.
