Shortly after passing the entrance to the Redwood Trail loop, the junction with the returning leg of the trail is reached. If you turn to the left you will take the loop in reverse. For this hike you will continue straight ahead. The forest rapidly grows denser, revealing a foretaste of the journey ahead.
