Hiking on Sandstone Pavement

Trail Thoughts and Musings

The trail now follows along the top of a ridge and much of the footing is sandstone rock outcroppings. Notice that even though there is less topsoil available, the vegetation is still able to grow in this rocky terrain. The walking has become easier for the moment as the ascent becomes almost level. It is hard to believe the trail started in a dense redwood forest.
