A Forest on the Move
Trail Thoughts and Musings
The hillsides in this area can be quite steep in some places. This combined with the abundant rainfall that occurs in the Winter months will often loosen a tree's grip on the firmament. The Santa Cruz mountains get an average of 60 inches of rain a year. This far exceeds the amount received by Seattle. Here, several trees have tilted precipitously and only the support of their neighbors prevent them from falling.
