In spring the Merced can be an awe inspiring sight. The amount of water discharged varies tremendously. In late summer the flow can fall to 5 cubic feet a second while in flood it can reach 10,000 cubic feet a second. Here it can be seen at its best. The river is full enough to impress the visitor and still runs clear.
