Initially, the John Muir Trail achieves its descent by clinging to the canyon wall. Because of the relatively sheer drop-offs, many unobstructed vistas can be had. An ever changing series of views are presented with each switchback. Be sure to watch your footing since it is easy to become mesmerized with the grandeur of Yosemite. Stop and take the time to savor the beauty.
